Prayer service notice
As you are aware of the ongoing crisis in Dhokham Gangdruk regions, Monks and nuns had sacrificed their lives by self-immolating their body for the cause of our homeland and His Holiness's return to Tibet.
On January 8th, Sonam Wangyal Sopa Rinpoche, a respected spiritual figure in his early forties passed away on the spot after drinking and spraying kerosene all over his body before lighting himself up. Rinpoche stated his fiery sacrifice was not for his “personal glory but for Tibet and the happiness of Tibetans." "The Tibetans should not lose their determination. The day of happiness will come for sure. For the Dalai Lama to live long, the Tibetans should not lose track of their path," Till date 17 self-immolation took place in those regions.
Also in recent weeks At least a dozen Tibetans have died in the past few weeks alone in police firings on peaceful demonstrators in Serter, Drango and other places. Hundreds of Tibetans had come out on the streets of Serthar in an act of defiance against Chinese rule, carrying photos of the Dalai Lama and calling for Tibet's independence.
In support and solidarity with our brothers and sisters who laid down their lives for the independent homeland and return of His Holiness The Dalai Lama to Tibet.
Dhokham Chushi Gangdruk Society of Canada is organizing a community prayer service led by Tulku Dawa Gyalpo Rinpoche and Lamas at: 186 Cowan Avenue, Toronto (Polish Church) on Jan/28/2012 (Saturday) at 2pm.
We urge all our fellow Tibetans to join this important prayer service and remember them in our prayers.
